Murray Loew
I’m a professor in the BME department, interested in medical imaging and quantitative methods in image analysis. Our lab collaborates widely and has developed theory and tools for multimodality medical image registration, modeling salience with application to mammography, bladder-cancer detection using texture in optical coherence tomography, and image compression and quality metrics. We also apply our methods to related interesting problems: noninvasive characterization of pigments and binders in paintings, and a new project in identification of cultural heritage glass at risk of deterioration. Major ongoing projects include infrared detection of breast cancer, and real-time imaging for verifying ablation in treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
